House Of Cards

It’s been a while since my last impulsive, late night post. So long I had trouble remembering the login password. I’m in now, so before the spontaneity of it all completely diminishes, here it is.

House of Cards - Joseph Byford

The shot is inspired by this guy, Andrew B. Myers , whose work I really do like. Haven’t yet put my finger on why, but I suppose, like all the stuff I’m drawn too, melancholy is the dominant theme.

As a side note, I have recently updated my website. It showcases my professional portfolio as well as some selected personal projects. Check it out.

Looking Back

This house once stood a couple of doors down from mine. One day it just vanished.

The shot of the house was taken almost two years ago. The shot of the empty block I shot just a couple hours ago. Both were taken in almost exactly the same position with the same lens (Nikon 50mm 1.8 G).  The extra coverage is due to a recent upgrade to full frame.

Abodes about the Race Track

More houses I found on the way back from the airport. These were around the horse race track in Hendra, Brisbane. I can’t seem to stop shooting these houses, not sure why I’m doing it. Maybe a series coming up.

Always makes for a tricky conversation with the inhabitants though. Bursting out the door like they own the joint, demanding justification. Today I told them I thought their house was “sexy ugly”. I left shortly after.

These last two shots haven’t any relevance to the post at all, but I’m fine with that.

All photographs lie, some just get away with it.
