camera obraccio

I’m trying to practice using my new camera as much as possible. The aim is to make it an extension of my body, to be able to adapt and adjust to changing light conditions as quickly as possible without wasting precious shooting time. This is a selection of the shots taken today.

Abodes about the Race Track

More houses I found on the way back from the airport. These were around the horse race track in Hendra, Brisbane. I can’t seem to stop shooting these houses, not sure why I’m doing it. Maybe a series coming up.

Always makes for a tricky conversation with the inhabitants though. Bursting out the door like they own the joint, demanding justification. Today I told them I thought their house was “sexy ugly”. I left shortly after.

These last two shots haven’t any relevance to the post at all, but I’m fine with that.

QUT Recon Mission

I ventured outside the safety of the QCA walls yesterday to stick posters of my new online gallery, http://netexhibit.com.au/, on the walls of our neighbour University. I was well impressed with the campus. There was a very clean yet industrial feel about the buildings, and the space in between them lets you take them all in. It was like being in some sort of computer generated mini city.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday

It was a windy day and I had to try out the continuous focus on my new toy, the Nikon D600. The balloons were vibrant and bright. Light and free they dodged and darted from one spot to the other. It took a while to get what I was looking for. I crouched down, climbed high, even went to a concert trying to capture the right moment. Checking the preview after each shot I thought, its good, “but it could have been better”.
Capturing it was pure luck, and I’m so glad I did, if only for a fleeting moment.

Pedestians

A large plywood wall has been outside my uni for a while. Supposedly some exciting new structure is expected to come. Until then I’ll be shooting it with whatever camera I happened to be holding when coming out of the lectures. The signage tends to change every week or so making for some fun compositions. This is my collection so far. One taken with the Mamiya C330 and the other two with the d600.  100 push to 400009 DSC_1192 DSC_1463

Toy Story Uncut

Ever since my new Nikon D600 arrived iv been pretty trigger happy. This bag of discarded toys, found outside the common area of my apartment, is one of my most recent targets.DSC_0162 DSC_0163 DSC_0289
